Egypt's PM Meets Nissan Global Execs at Magnite Production Ceremony

Egypt's Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly met with top officials from Nissan Global on the sidelines of a ceremony marking the first production of the Nissan Magnite in Africa. The event took place at the Nissan Egypt plant in 6th of October City, underscoring the government's growing focus on the automotive sector and its commitment to strengthening partnerships with global industry leaders.

High-Level Meeting Details

The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid, Minister of Industry Khalid Hashim, and Giza Governor Ahmed Al-Ansari. Also present were Japanese Ambassador to Egypt Fumio Iwai, along with Massimiliano Max Messina, Chairman of the Africa, Middle East, India, Europe, and Oceania region at Nissan Global, and Mohamed Abdel Samad, Managing Director of Nissan Egypt, among other company representatives.

Nissan Magnite: First African Production Milestone

At the outset of the meeting, Mohamed Abdel Samad welcomed the Prime Minister and his delegation, emphasizing that the production of the Nissan Magnite in Egypt represents a highly significant step in the company's journey and confirms its commitment to investment expansion plans in the Egyptian market. The Managing Director explained that work began on preparing and installing the new production line in the first quarter of 2025, with production trials already starting in the first quarter of 2026.

Competitive Pricing and Export Plans

Abdel Samad confirmed that the vehicle will be offered at competitive prices to meet local market demands, noting that the company looks forward to exporting to North Africa and various global markets in the future. These strategic plans are part of enhancing Egypt's role as a regional hub for automotive manufacturing and export.

Praise for National Automotive Strategy

For his part, Massimiliano Max Messina praised the substantial support provided by the Egyptian government to the automotive industry through incentives available under the "National Strategy for Automotive Industry Development," which aims to strengthen Egypt's position in this sector. Messina outlined Nissan's global expansion plans, emphasizing the company's special interest in the Egyptian market given its promising opportunities. He described Egypt as a pivotal market and a manufacturing and export hub, as the company aims to expand across Africa through the Egyptian gateway.

Optimism and Future Investment Outlook

At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly expressed his pleasure at meeting with Nissan Global officials, reiterating the Egyptian government's strong confidence in the company's leading plans and its aspirations for further future cooperation. Madbouly considered the launch of the Nissan Magnite as a positive and optimistic step that confirms the seriousness of the company's investments, adding: "I am pleased with your completion of the new production line in record time... and I look forward to seeing the first electric vehicle from Nissan in Egypt."
