Khaled Hashim, Egypt’s Minister of Industry, held an extensive meeting with a delegation from the Chinese company "Jiangsu Changhong" for smart equipment, led by company chairman Qiu Yong Jie, to discuss the company’s future investment plans in the Egyptian market. The meeting was attended by Mohamed Sami, Assistant Minister for Strategic Affairs, and Alaa Salah El-Din, Head of the Automotive Unit at the Ministry of Industry, along with several ministry officials.

$20 Million Investment in Smart Manufacturing

The meeting reviewed the company’s plan to establish a state-of-the-art industrial complex in Egypt with investments totaling $20 million, relying on the latest smart manufacturing technologies. The complex will offer integrated solutions for the automotive industry, including equipping production lines, supplying smart industrial software systems, and providing consultancy services that cover factory planning and design.

Egypt’s Auto Industry Priorities and Regional Goals

Hashim emphasized that the automotive industry and its feeder industries are a top national priority for Egypt in the current phase. He noted that the ministry operates under an integrated strategy aimed at transitioning from assembly stages to actual manufacturing, deepening the local component, and increasing the added value of domestic industry.

Hashim explained that the ministry is working to attract major global car manufacturers, as well as specialized companies in advanced manufacturing technologies. This contributes to building a comprehensive industrial system and enhances Egypt’s ability to transform into a regional hub for automotive manufacturing and export. He added that the ministry’s efforts are not limited to establishing production projects, but also aim to transfer technology, build local capabilities, and qualify Egyptian cadres in industrial engineering, smart manufacturing, and digital transformation, considering human resources as a key pillar of sustainable industrial development.

Hashim further stated that the Egyptian market offers multiple investment incentives, including Egypt’s strategic geographic location, developed infrastructure, and network of trade agreements that grant products manufactured in Egypt strong access to regional and international markets. This is complemented by qualified engineering and technical cadres that enhance the competitiveness of local industry. He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to attracting specialized investments in smart manufacturing and advanced industrial technologies, to contribute to knowledge transfer, local capacity development, boosting the local component, and supporting national efforts to localize high-value-added industries.
