China's largest tire manufacturer has announced a major expansion plan in Egypt, with new investments totaling $550 million. The plan includes building a massive new factory in Alexandria and significantly boosting production capacity, supporting the country's ambition to become a regional hub for tire manufacturing and export to global markets.

High-Level Government Meeting

Dr. Hussein Issa, Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, met with a high-level delegation from China National Tire & Rubber Co. Ltd—one of the world's leading tire manufacturers—to discuss the company's expansion strategy and increased investments in the Egyptian market.

The meeting took place at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, attended by Sun Ding, Vice President of the company, Omar Mehanna, Chairman of Prometeon Tyres Egypt, and Saeed Arafa, Assistant Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade for Investment Contracts Affairs.

Industrial Sector as a National Priority

Dr. Issa emphasized that the Egyptian government places the industrial sector at the top of its priorities, considering it a key driver of economic growth, export expansion, and job creation. He noted that the tire industry is a strategic sector that supports local manufacturing and reduces reliance on imports.

He further explained that the government continues to implement a comprehensive program to improve the business environment, offering incentives and facilities to attract quality investments, transfer modern technology, and localize advanced industries.

Egypt's Competitive Advantages

The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted Egypt's strong potential to become a regional tire manufacturing hub, citing its strategic geographic location, advanced infrastructure, modern transport and logistics networks, as well as free trade agreements that provide access to numerous global markets.

He expressed hope that the Chinese company would expand its future investments to include the production of passenger car tires, helping to meet local market demand and strengthen the national industry's capabilities.

Chinese Company's Expansion Plans

For their part, the Chinese company's officials presented their future investment plans, confirming that the success of their current operations in Egypt has reinforced their confidence in the country as a strategic manufacturing and export center in the region.

The Chinese delegation unveiled a new $550 million investment plan through Prometeon Tyres Egypt, which includes constructing a state-of-the-art factory in Alexandria to increase production capacity and meet growing demand in both local and international markets.
