Chinese automaker BAIC and Saudi Arabia's Petromin have announced a new strategic partnership, appointing Petromin as the national distributor for the BAIC brand in the Kingdom. The move is part of BAIC's broader expansion plans across the Gulf region.

Official Launch in Jeddah

The announcement came during an event held by both companies in Jeddah to introduce the brand to the Saudi market, where BAIC unveiled its refreshed corporate identity. The company showcased three SUV models — the BJ30, BJ40, and BJ60 — alongside the official market debut of the all-new BJ40 Pro.

The new model represents a significant addition to BAIC's lineup aimed at off-road enthusiasts. The company is betting on these models to strengthen its presence in a highly competitive market.

Dividing Responsibilities

Under the cooperation plan, BAIC will leverage its research and development expertise in vehicles, intelligent driving, and new energy technologies. Petromin, for its part, will rely on its local sales network, service capabilities, and operational strength in Saudi Arabia to expand both companies' market presence.

BAIC Global Chairman Fu Jun said Saudi Arabia has always been an important market within the group's global strategy, noting that the Kingdom's efforts to build a modern and diversified economy have shown great potential. He added that BAIC will continue increasing its investments in the Saudi market, introducing more products designed to meet local consumer needs.

The Chinese automaker also plans to strengthen spare parts supply and after-sales services, along with improving its sales network and expanding maintenance offerings.

A Shared Vision

Terence Byrne, CEO of the National Car Company, a subsidiary of Petromin, said the collaboration marks the beginning of a long-term strategic partnership between Petromin and BAIC, built on a shared vision, mutual trust, and a common ambition to shape the future of mobility in Saudi Arabia. Byrne noted that the Saudi auto market, driven by Vision 2030, is opening new opportunities for innovation, investment, and sustainable growth.
