Automobility and Geely Explore Expanding Local Manufacturing, Boosting Production, and Launching New Models
Automobility, the official distributor and exclusive manufacturer of Geely vehicles in Egypt, welcomed a high-level delegation from GAIC, a subsidiary of the Geely Group, led by Alex Nan, the company's General Manager, on an official visit to Cairo. The visit aims to discuss expansion plans in the local market, increase production capacity, enhance local manufacturing, and address the launch of several new models in the coming period.
Expansion Plans and Production Increase
The visit included a series of intensive meetings between Alex Nan and Fahad Al-Ghanim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Automobility. They deliberated on the brand's performance indicators in the Egyptian market and outlined plans to introduce new models, including the New Starray, New Cityray, and Monjaro. Additionally, they explored opportunities to increase production capacity and expand local manufacturing, as well as studying the feasibility of exporting vehicles manufactured in Egypt to several regional markets, underlining the group's commitment to strengthening its presence in the region.
Strong Performance in First Half of 2026
The visit comes amid the robust performance recorded by Geely in the Egyptian market during the first half of 2026, achieving sales that equal the total sales recorded throughout the entire year of 2025. This achievement reflects the accelerating growth of the brand and the rising demand for its products in the local market, reinforcing Geely's position as a key player in Egypt's automotive sector.
Successful Local Manufacturing of Coolray and Emgrand
Both parties reviewed the outcomes of the local manufacturing experience for the Geely Coolray and Geely Emgrand models at the BAMIC facility. This initiative has increased the supply of Geely vehicles in the market and enhanced the brand's competitiveness. The effort aligns with the state's direction to support the automotive industry and increase the percentage of local components, opening new avenues for future collaboration.
Official Statements on the Partnership
Fahad Al-Ghanim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Automobility, stated that the visit by the Geely Group delegation confirms the growing importance of the Egyptian market within the group's global strategy and reflects the strength of the partnership between both sides. He added that the success achieved in locally manufacturing the Coolray and Emgrand models marks a starting point for a new phase aimed at expanding local manufacturing, increasing production capacity, and leveraging Egypt's strategic location, while also studying opportunities to export locally manufactured vehicles.
