The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) continues to execute its strategy to localize strategic industries, particularly in the automotive sector and its supply chain. This initiative aims to attract high-value investments that enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian manufacturing, boost the local product's value, and expand export capabilities to regional and global markets.

As part of this vision, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Long March Tyre (Egypt) Ltd project, a subsidiary of the Chinese giant Chaoyang Longmarch Tyre Co. Ltd. The event took place within the TEDA - Egypt industrial developer zone in the Ain Sokhna integrated industrial area, attended by Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the SCZone, and Major General Hani Rashad, Governor of Suez.

The ceremony was marked by prominent diplomatic and executive attendance, including Xiao Min, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Alexandria; Cao Hui, CEO of TEDA Egypt; and Jin Yongsheng, Chairman of Long March Tyre, alongside a group of SCZone officials.

Project Specifications and Production Capacity

Spanning an area of approximately 200,000 square meters, the Long March Tyre plant requires a total investment of around $190 million (equivalent to approximately 9.5 billion Egyptian Pounds). The facility is expected to generate around 1,500 direct job opportunities, significantly contributing to the national economy.

The mega-project will be implemented in two phases. The first phase targets an annual production of 600,000 Truck and Bus Radial (TBR) tires. The second phase aims to increase this capacity to 1 million TBR tires annually, alongside the production of 4.5 million Passenger Car Radial (PCR) tires per year, fulfilling local market demands and boosting exports.

Strategic Partnership and Future Expansions

Walid Gamal El-Din emphasized that the Long March project represents a qualitative industrial addition to the SCZone. He noted that it embodies the authority's success in attracting specialized, high-value-added investments, particularly in the automotive sector and its components.

He further explained that the project is the first of a new phase of cooperation with TEDA Egypt, following an agreement in July 2025 for a total area of 2.8 million square meters, which has been fully contracted. This follows the completion of the previous phase allocation of 7.25 million square meters, reflecting the depth of the strategic partnership in supporting advanced industries and attracting industrial investments.
