The US dollar exchange rate experienced a period of relative stability against the Egyptian pound as major banks closed their trading sessions today, with market participants closely monitoring any potential movements in the American currency during the coming period. This stability comes within the framework of the monetary policy adopted by the Central Bank of Egypt to control inflation rates and maintain market equilibrium.

Dollar Rates at Major Banks

The dollar price at the Central Bank of Egypt stood at EGP 48.86 for buying and EGP 49.00 for selling, while the National Bank of Egypt recorded EGP 48.92 for buying and EGP 49.02 for selling. Similarly, Banque Misr quoted the dollar at EGP 48.92 for buying and EGP 49.02 for selling, reflecting slight variations of only a few piasters between different financial institutions.

Price Variations Across Banks

End-of-day data showed that the lowest dollar rate was at Bank of Alexandria, registering EGP 48.82 for buying and EGP 48.92 for selling. The Commercial International Bank CIB quoted the dollar at EGP 48.85 for buying and EGP 48.95 for selling. These minor differences across banks reflect the competitive nature of the Egyptian banking sector, offering customers the opportunity to choose the most favorable rate based on their requirements.

Market participants are closely watching for any potential shifts in the US currency in the coming period, particularly amid ongoing global inflationary pressures and their impact on emerging markets. Analysts emphasize that exchange rate stability enhances investor confidence and contributes to improving the business environment, especially in sectors such as automotive that are directly affected by currency fluctuations.
