Shorouk Shimi Sports Journalism Award Honors Winners as ‘Hot Money in Al Ahly and Zamalek’ Takes First Place
A leading press institution hosted a professional ceremony honoring the winners of the second edition of the Shorouk Shimi Excellence in Sports Journalism Award for 2026. The event brought together senior media executives, prominent writers, and sports critics to celebrate outstanding sports journalism and commemorate the legacy of the late journalist Shorouk Shimi.
The ceremony featured the presentation of awards for the competition’s second edition, organized in partnership with the Journalists Syndicate, recognizing the best sports journalism work published during 2025. The report titled “Hot Money in Al Ahly and Zamalek” secured first place.
Strengthening a Culture of Recognition
Dr. Mohamed Fayez Farhat stated that the institution remains committed to honoring colleagues who left a lasting impact on its journalistic journey through awards carrying the names of distinguished media figures, reflecting appreciation, loyalty, and professional values.
He added that these awards are part of ongoing cooperation with the Journalists Syndicate, reinforcing the human and professional principles upheld by the institution.
Celebrating Shorouk Shimi’s Legacy
Journalist Mohamed Salmawy described the occasion as an opportunity to celebrate colleagues whose influence remains alive through their work and achievements, emphasizing the importance of preserving ethical and professional standards within journalism.
He noted that Shorouk Shimi left a lasting legacy and also paid tribute to the late Mohamed Hamed, who recently passed away after a long career of dedication and hard work.
A Spirit of Loyalty and Solidarity
Nevine Kamel said that commitment and solidarity remain among the institution’s defining values. She noted that the recent loss of Mohamed Hamed renewed feelings of sorrow over the passing of Shorouk Shimi while highlighting the enduring impact both left behind.
She also affirmed the continuation of cooperation with Shorouk Shimi’s family in organizing the award, stressing that meaningful professional contributions continue to live on beyond their creators.
