«World-class road network» — that's how the Ministry of Housing described its latest comprehensive development plan across three new cities. The project targets upgrading basic infrastructure and improving services for residents in Obour, Shorouk and Badr.

Roads are just one piece of the puzzle; water networks, sanitation and new service projects are all part of the equation. What really sets this plan apart is the integrated approach that combines urban aesthetics with smoother traffic flow.

Ministerial Follow-Up

Engineer Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, personally followed up on the execution status across the three cities. She emphasized that road development remains a continuous priority for the ministry, with strict adherence to quality standards and project timelines.

But the vision goes beyond infrastructure. Expanding green spaces and upgrading public services are integral parts of the plan, alongside campaigns to remove encroachments and violations. The goal is a more organized, sustainable urban environment.

Obour: Major Works in District 8

Field reports revealed extensive upgrades to roads, sidewalks and lighting networks in Obour, particularly within District 8. This isn't routine maintenance; the focus is clearly on execution quality.

Most striking is the integrated urban market in Mostaqbal Housing area, spanning 1,800 square meters with 52 equipped stalls for various commercial activities. The project aims to curb street vendors and organize commercial movement in a civilised manner.

Badr: New Asphalt and Water Projects

In Badr, road network development continues with new asphalt layers across several main axes in District 6. Simultaneously, the city is witnessing site coordination, planting and cleaning works, plus maintenance of green spaces on main corridors and entrances.

The rehabilitation project for overhead tanks — with capacities of 3,000 and 1,000 cubic meters — stands out among ongoing works. It targets improving drinking water efficiency and stabilizing water pressure in Districts 1, 2 and 3, alongside intensive encroachment removal campaigns coordinated with construction police.

Shorouk presents a different picture; water supply takes center stage. The ministry is completing operations of the Shorouk-Obour riser and installing the remaining section of a 1,000mm diameter water line. The objective is clear: increasing the city's water share, diversifying supply sources and enhancing service stability.

Phase two of the sewage discharge line replacement project was also part of the works. Development here doesn't stop at roads — it extends to the entire utilities network that residents depend on daily.
