The Egyptian motorcycle market shifted gears in July. Fresh official data shows a significant drop in newly registered bikes compared to the month before.

July Numbers Tell a Different Story

According to the compulsory insurance pool report, 35,168 new motorcycles were sold and licensed in July, a decline of 19.08% from June’s 43,461 units. June itself had posted a massive gain of roughly 42% over May, making July’s pullback a sharp correction.

The figures reveal a market catching its breath. After a surge in June, activity cooled substantially, raising questions about whether the momentum has stalled or simply paused before the next cycle.

Breakdown by Model Year

July’s licensing data clearly favors the newest models. Bikes from the 2026 model year dominated with 28,447 units, accounting for more than 80% of all monthly sales. The 2025 models followed with 5,478 units, while 2024 models registered just 762 units.

Older 2023 models managed only 478 sales, a modest tally. the report also recorded a grand total of 3 motorcycles from the 2027 model year, a tiny but symbolic start for future models entering the Egyptian market.

June painted a fuller picture across every category. Motorcycle prices and 2026 models led with 33,566 units, 2025 models hit 8,254 units. 2024 models reached 1,053 units. The gap is evident even in older segments.

This monthly slump isn't entirely surprising. The local motorcycle market responds to seasonal shifts and supply-demand dynamics, but the dip offers telling clues about buyer behavior. All eyes now turn to next month’s data to see if this contraction deepens or if activity revives once more.
