Clean energy and the green transition took center stage during discussions between Egypt and Ireland as the Egyptian government reaffirmed its commitment to implementing new economic reforms and investment incentives aimed at supporting production, empowering the private sector, and securing supply chains for strategic commodities and pharmaceuticals. The discussions reflect ongoing efforts to strengthen the country's investment climate while supporting sustainable economic growth across priority sectors.

Expanding Cooperation in Renewable Energy and Green Transition

Dr. Ahmed Rostom, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, held talks with Eden O'Hara, Ambassador of Ireland to Cairo, to explore ways of strengthening bilateral economic cooperation in priority areas. The agenda focused on renewable energy, the green transition, development finance, technology, entrepreneurship, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises, in line with the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030. Both sides emphasized the importance of expanding collaboration in sectors that contribute to sustainable development and long-term economic growth.

Supporting Exports and Advancing Economic Reform

The meeting also addressed cooperation in export credit and the utilization of international expertise in this field within the framework of the strategic partnership between Egypt and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The discussions highlighted the role of export financing in strengthening Egyptian exports and improving their competitiveness in international markets while supporting broader economic development objectives.

The Minister of Planning and Economic Development stated that Egypt's economic indicators continue to improve with the support of the country's economic reform program. He explained that the government is working to deepen local manufacturing, increase production, and maintain the resilience of the national economy amid current regional and global challenges. He added that the coming period will include additional economic reforms and investment incentives designed to accelerate growth in key sectors, expand investments, strengthen the real economy, reinforce the role of the private sector in comprehensive development, and continue efforts to secure supply chains for strategic goods and pharmaceuticals, ultimately contributing to improved living standards.

Rostom also stressed the government's commitment to expanding cooperation with Ireland and benefiting from Ireland's upcoming presidency of the European Union to create new opportunities for engagement with European partners. He confirmed that coordination between the two countries will continue to transform areas of cooperation into practical projects and executable action plans that support investment, production, and sustainable economic development.
