Egypt's Vehicle Registrations Drop by 7,000 in May: Expert Explains the Decline
Egypt's vehicle market experienced a notable decline in registrations during May 2026, losing approximately 7,000 licenses compared to April, which recorded the highest monthly figure since the start of the year.
According to sales and marketing expert Gamal Fahim, the total number of registered vehicles in May reached around 56,000, down from about 63,000 in April — the highest monthly registration count so far this year.
Fahim explained that this drop is a natural market fluctuation, especially as demand is influenced by seasonal factors, holidays, and vacations. He noted that sales are typically lower during the first quarter of the year before gradually improving in the second quarter.
He added that registration data from the Egyptian Compulsory Vehicle Insurance Pool reflects the real demand for cars and vehicles in the Egyptian market. The first months of the year showed gradual growth, followed by a performance decline in May.
