Egypt Car Sales Jump 32.6% in First Half of 2026

Egypt's automotive market sales surged 32.6% during the first half of 2026, reaching 98,829 vehicles. That's a significant leap from the 74,494 units sold during the same period last year.

Private Passenger Car Segment Performance

Sales of private passenger cars, known locally as 'melaki', grew by 29% to hit 74,264 units. This improvement in the country's most-watched segment signals recovering consumer confidence and renewed showroom activity.

Unprecedented Growth in Bus Sales

Bus sales across all categories posted a remarkable 94.7% increase, jumping to 8,614 units. The figure nearly doubles the 4,424 buses sold in the first half of 2025, pointing to expansion within the public transportation sector.

Truck sales also delivered a strong showing, climbing 29.4% to 15,951 units during the review period. The numbers comfortably outpace the 12,330 trucks recorded in the same timeframe of the previous year.

Data from the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC) paints an optimistic picture for Egypt's auto industry. The market, which endured sharp price volatility in earlier years, appears to have regained momentum with balanced growth across both private and commercial segments.
