Egypt Car Sales Jump 30% in 7 Months: 117,000 Vehicles Sold

Egypt's automotive market is surging ahead. The Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC) report revealed a 30% rise in total vehicle sales during January to July 2026, reaching approximately 116,800 units. That compares to just over 90,000 vehicles sold in the same period of 2025.

Passenger Cars Lead the Charge

Passenger car sales drove much of this growth. Chevrolet and other volume brands helped push the segment up 25%, with over 87,000 units sold. That's up from roughly 70,000 passenger cars in the parallel period last year. Nissan and Chery both capitalized on this momentum.

Trucks and Buses: Even Stronger Growth

Commercial vehicles didn't lag behind. Truck sales climbed 31% to exceed 19,000 units, compared to fewer than 15,000 in the same period of 2025. But buses stole the show with an 88% jump. Sales surpassed 10,000 buses, up from just 5,500 last year. That surge signals a recovery in public transport demand.

Brand Rankings: Chevrolet on Top

The vehicle sales ranking for the first seven months placed Chevrolet first with nearly 20,000 units. Nissan followed with about 16,000 vehicles. Chery came third with over 12,000 units. MG ranked fourth with more than 11,000 vehicles. Toyota took fifth with over 8,000 units. Hyundai matched that figure closely. Changan came seventh with more than 5,000 vehicles. BAIC exceeded 3,500 units. King Long recorded 3,200 vehicles. Kia rounded out the top ten with over 2,500 units.

These numbers paint a picture of broad market recovery. Pricing strategies for Chevrolet clearly helped maintain its lead. Competition is intensifying, with brands like Soueast fighting for a bigger slice. With nearly 117,000 vehicles sold in seven months, the question now is whether this pace can hold for the rest of the year.
