The Egyptian bus market has witnessed a remarkable surge in the first quarter of this year, with total sales growing by 135.4% between February and April. According to the latest data from the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC), total bus sales reached 1,509 vehicles, compared to just 641 units during the same period last year. This sharp increase reflects a clear recovery in the public transport sector, driven by fleet renewals and the expansion of new transport routes.

Top-Selling Brands Ranking

King Long topped the list of best-selling bus brands in Egypt during April, after successfully selling 327 vehicles in the month alone. Golden Dragon secured the second position with total sales of 311 units, maintaining its strong presence in this segment. Toyota claimed the third spot with 247 vehicles sold, followed by Shineray in fourth place with 130 units. Foton rounded out the top five with 127 buses sold, underscoring the intense competition among bus manufacturers in the Egyptian market.

Further down the ranking, Chevrolet took sixth place with 108 buses sold, while Mitsubishi followed in seventh with 89 units. Suzuki completed the top eight with 88 buses, highlighting the wide range of options available to operators and transport companies across Egypt.

Market Outlook and Trends

This significant growth in bus sales coincides with improving macroeconomic indicators and rising demand for public transportation, particularly in major cities. The government's ongoing efforts to modernize the public transport system and encourage investment in this sector have also contributed to the increased demand for commercial vehicles. Industry stakeholders expect this upward trend to continue in the coming months, supported by the launch of new models and the expansion of local manufacturing capacity. The strong performance of both Chinese and Japanese brands indicates a shift in buyer preferences toward more cost-effective and fuel-efficient options, which is likely to shape the competitive landscape of Egypt's bus market in the near future.
