Strong Growth Forecast for Egypt's Auto Market in 2026
A recent report from a US-based agency specializing in global automotive market analysis has painted an optimistic picture for Egypt's car market in 2026, highlighting the market's strong growth potential.
Robust Growth Rates in Q1
According to the report, car sales in Egypt continued their upward trajectory in 2026, with a 27% increase recorded in January, followed by a 35.5% surge in February. Overall sales growth for the first quarter reached 13.5% compared to the same period last year, signaling a notable rebound in demand.
Nearly 41,000 Cars Sold in Q1
The Egyptian market sold close to 41,000 vehicles in the first quarter of 2026. The report attributed this positive performance to expectations that Egypt's economy will achieve growth exceeding 5.4% during the new fiscal year 2026-2027, driven by expanding private sector investments.
Top 5 Automakers in Egypt
Nissan topped the sales charts in Egypt during the period, achieving approximately 30% sales growth and capturing a 15% market share. Chevrolet secured the second position, followed by Chery, MG, and finally Hyundai, completing the list of the top five best-selling automakers in the country.
Annual Sales Recovery
The report noted that Egypt's auto market is gradually regaining its balance, with annual sales rising from 96,681 units in 2024 to 172,386 units in 2025. Additionally, the report highlighted significant growth in electric vehicle sales in Egypt, which surged by more than 244% in the first quarter of 2026.
