Chevrolet Tops Egypt Car Sales Rankings in First Half of 2026
Chevrolet topped Egypt's car market sales in the first half of 2026 with a 16.6% market share, selling 16,417 vehicles. Nissan came second at 14.3%, followed by Chery at 10.3%. Official data from AMIC shows diversified portfolios including passenger and commercial vehicles drove the leader ahead of the competition.
Chevrolet has claimed the top spot in Egypt's automotive market for the first half of 2026. The American brand secured a 16.6% market share, selling 16,417 vehicles across passenger cars, buses, and trucks. The figures come from the official report by the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC).
A Tight Race Behind the Leader
Nissan secured second place with 14,087 vehicles sold, holding a 14.3% market share. The gap between first and second sits at just 2.3%, signaling an intense commercial battle. Chery finished third with a 10.3% share, moving 10,148 units and reinforcing the steady rise of Chinese brands in Egypt.
Positions four through six delivered a mix of familiar names and shifting dynamics. MG ranked fourth at 9.7% with 9,538 cars, while Hyundai took fifth place with a 7.2% share and 7,155 units. Toyota landed sixth, recording 6,866 sales at 6.9%.
Chinese Automakers Strengthen Their Position
Seventh place went to Changan with a 4.2% market share and 4,156 vehicles. The other Chinese contender, BAIC, captured eighth position at 3.5% with 3,445 units between January and June. The full list paints a clear picture: the Egyptian market is no longer dominated exclusively by Japanese and European manufacturers.
The official numbers from January to June 2026 show that Chevrolet succeeded in balancing its sales across passenger and commercial vehicle segments. This diversified portfolio gave the brand a wider sales base compared to rivals relying mostly on passenger cars. Fleet sales and commercial demand played a significant role in shaping these results.
Collectively, the top five brands — Chevrolet, Nissan, Chery, MG. Hyundai — controlled over 58% of total market sales. This level of concentration raises questions about the future of smaller brands and their ability to compete amid rising import costs and local assembly challenges. Analysts are now watching whether Chevrolet can sustain this momentum through the second half, or if Nissan will close the gap and reclaim the lead by year-end.
