Chevrolet has topped the list of best-selling automotive brands in Egypt across all categories, including passenger cars, buses, and trucks, during the first five months of 2026. According to the latest report from the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC), the American brand captured a market share of 16.3%, selling approximately 13,251 vehicles. This performance underscores Chevrolet's strong foothold in the Egyptian market, especially amid intensifying competition.

Sales Breakdown by Brand

Nissan secured the second position with a market share of 15.6%, recording 12,681 cars sold, a narrow margin behind the leader. Chery came in third place with 10.2% market share, totaling 8,292 units, reinforcing its reputation as a key Chinese player in Egypt. MG ranked fourth with a 9.7% share and approximately 7,873 vehicles sold, continuing its strong presence in the compact and mid-size segments.

Lower Ranks and Market Dynamics

Hyundai ranked fifth with a 7% market share, selling 5,703 units, while Toyota secured sixth place at 6.7%, amounting to 5,465 cars. Changan claimed seventh position with 4.1% share, selling 3,338 vehicles, followed by BAIC in eighth place at 4% market share, with 3,295 vehicles sold during the January-to-May period.

This distribution highlights a diverse competitive landscape, with American, Japanese, and Chinese brands dominating. Local buyers are increasingly focusing on economic factors such as price, availability, and after-sales service, which likely explains the strong performance of brands like Chevrolet and Nissan. The data reflects a dynamic and highly competitive Egyptian automotive market as it continues to evolve through 2026.
