Bloggers and Trends: Who Really Shapes Our Minds?
A question demands an answer. Who is truly shaping society's direction and youth minds today? Universities, schools, and families once had the final say in building public awareness. But what changed?
The scene is unrecognizable. Social media has become the "game's joker" in shaping public opinion. A group of bloggers calling themselves "influencers" now controls millions of minds. This happens amid a near-total absence of oversight over the content being published, far from any professional or ethical standards.
Who Actually Controls Our Views?
Young people follow these bloggers blindly. They adopt their opinions and evaluations with an enthusiasm that lacks any critical thinking. Strangely, this phenomenon has not remained limited to the younger generation.
I've recently noticed elderly bloggers emerging, carrying titles like "Chemistry Giant" and "Physics Genius." They moved from classrooms to social platforms, leveraging their grey hair as a badge of expertise. The real issue? They talk about cars and issue negative verdicts on products, brands, and commodities without any actual knowledge.
Fake Expertise and Lack of Oversight
This group fills the social media space with their absolute opinions. Egypt still lacks binding rules for influencer work.
Dr. Howaida Mostafa addressed this topic in one of her radio interviews. She pointed out that many European and Arab countries have established clear regulations for bloggers, with some even granting annual permits. Violating these rules means video removal or losing the right to work.
The message is clear: swift action can't wait. Society has been left too long in the hands of ignorant people executing paid agendas to undermine Egyptian youth and the whole community.
The Most Dangerous Shift
The deeper threat lies in the transformation of role models. A young person once aspired to become a scientist, a leader, or a thinker—but now the target is a blogger famous for quick wit and overnight wealth.
These young people forget the value of hard work, lawful income, and proper life planning. Hope remains in quick intervention before it's too late, and before we regret our slow response to this phenomenon threatening an entire generation's mindset.
