Industry Minister: Automotive Sector Among Top Development Priorities as Egypt Targets a Leading Role in Global Supply Chains
Engineer Khaled Hashem, Minister of Industry, confirmed that the automotive industry is one of seven priority industrial sectors within Egypt’s industrial development strategy through 2030. He noted that the government is working to deepen local manufacturing and increase local content levels to strengthen the competitiveness of the national industry.
Industrial Strategy Focused on Sustainable Growth
The minister stated that the new industrial strategy builds on achievements made in recent years while taking global economic changes into account, with the goal of ensuring sustainable growth rates for Egypt’s industrial sector.
Localizing Supply Industries and Attracting Investment
He explained that the ministry places significant emphasis on localizing feeder industries, particularly those linked to automotive manufacturing. He stressed that Egypt aims to become a key player in global supply chains by attracting investments, creating a competitive business environment, developing complementary industries, and establishing partnerships with major international companies.
He added that the ministry has completed the identification of priority industries and is currently working to provide all necessary incentives and facilitation measures for investors, supporting Egypt’s transformation into a regional hub for automotive manufacturing and feeder industries in the coming years.
