Lamborghini to Reveal a New, More Aggressive Urus on July 1
Lamborghini is preparing to unveil a new version of its super SUV, the Urus, on July 1, following the release of a short teaser that heralds a new chapter for the Italian brand's best-selling high-performance SUV. While Lamborghini has not yet disclosed the official name or full performance figures, speculation suggests this could be the successor to the Urus Performante, likely based on the plug-in hybrid powertrain found in the Urus SE, but with sharper tuning and a more extreme focus on performance.
Performante Heir Enters the Hybrid Era
The new Urus is expected to feature a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine paired with an electric motor, the same setup currently powering the Urus SE, which delivers a combined 800 hp and 950 Nm of torque. The Urus SE can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 312 km/h. Any higher-performance variant would likely push these numbers further through increased power, reduced weight, or enhanced aerodynamics, promising even more thrilling performance figures.
More Aggressive Design
Teaser images reveal a more aggressive exterior design, with clear aerodynamic enhancements including new bumpers, larger air intakes, and modifications to the rear diffuser and spoiler. Lamborghini typically follows this philosophy for its high-performance variants, where upgrades go beyond power increases to include improved stability, weight reduction, enhanced cooling efficiency, and sharper responsiveness on both road and track.
Urus: A Success Story That Changed Lamborghini
Since its launch, the Urus has become one of the most important models in Lamborghini's modern history, opening the door for the Italian marque into the luxury high-performance SUV segment. The model successfully blends Lamborghini's sporting DNA with everyday usability, attracting a new customer base seeking a practical vehicle with supercar capabilities, which has significantly boosted the company's global sales.
The Hybrid Shift Takes Hold
The new Urus is part of Lamborghini's gradual transition strategy toward plug-in hybrid vehicles, rather than a direct leap to fully electric models. This approach strikes a balance between preserving the brand's legendary performance and meeting increasingly stringent environmental regulations, further cementing the Urus's status as an icon in the super SUV segment.
