Hyundai Bayon Egypt Launch Delayed to September 16
Ghabbour Auto, Hyundai's distributor in Egypt, has delayed the official launch of the locally assembled Hyundai Bayon to September 16, moving it from late August. The crossover features a 1.6-liter engine with 123 horsepower and a 6-speed automatic gearbox, with an overall length of 3995 mm. As the eighth locally produced Hyundai model, the Bayon is undergoing final testing before its Q3 2026 debut, a move aimed at maximizing the factory's underutilized capacity.
Ghabbour Auto, the official distributor of Hyundai in Egypt, has officially postponed the launch date of the locally assembled Hyundai Bayon to September 16. The crossover was originally scheduled to hit the market in late August, but the company decided to push the release into next month. The decision comes as final preparations continue ahead of the showroom arrival.
Engine Specs and Dimensions of the New Bayon
Ghabbour Auto has already revealed key technical details for the upcoming model. The Hyundai Bayon is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine producing 123 horsepower. Peak torque stands at 153 Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission that delivers smooth power delivery. These figures position the Bayon competitively within Egypt's compact crossover segment.
Measuring 3995 mm in length, 1770 mm in width. 1617 mm in height, the Bayon sits firmly in the sub-compact category. The wheelbase spans 2500 mm, offering decent cabin space for its class. Cargo capacity reaches 350 liters, while wheel options range from 15 to 16 inches depending on the trim level selected.
Local Manufacturing and Final Testing Phase
The Bayon marks the eighth model to roll off Hyundai's local production lines in Egypt. The company has championed domestic manufacturing since 1995, building vehicles in the country for three full decades. This latest addition strengthens the brand's commitment to deepening local assembly and expanding its Egyptian portfolio.
Final operational tests are currently underway to ensure the car performs reliably on Egyptian roads. Engineers are evaluating the engine, suspension, and air conditioning systems under real-world local conditions. The official market launch is still targeted for the third quarter of 2026, with deliveries expected to begin shortly after the September 16 reveal date.
Ghabbour Auto is looking to maximize its underutilized production capacity, especially after the discontinuation of the Hyundai Accent RB lineup. The factory previously focused solely on assembling the Elantra AD, making the addition of a second model a strategic move to boost output and optimize assembly lines.
