Volkswagen has revealed the Volkswagen ID.3 GTI, the most powerful production car ever to wear the legendary GTI badge, packing 326 horsepower—a bold move ahead of its anticipated debut at the 2026 Paris Motor Show.
Performance That Outshines the GTI Legacy
The ID.3 GTI features a rear-mounted electric motor producing 545 Nm of torque, surpassing the Golf GTI Clubsport with its 300-hp combustion engine. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h. Launch Control and adaptive DCC suspension come standard, while a dedicated GTI driving mode adjusts motor, chassis, and interior lighting settings.
601 km Range and Advanced Charging Tech
A 79 kWh battery delivers up to 601 kilometers of range based on announced figures. Fast charging from 10 to 80% takes about 29 minutes, and V2L technology lets you power external devices—a practical feature for everyday use and outdoor activities.
Design details honor GTI history: the red front accent and seats inspired by the iconic square pattern. These touches aim to carry the traditional sports identity into the electric era without losing the character that defined generations of hot hatch enthusiasts.
50 Years of GTI Heritage Goes Electric
This shift coincides with the 50th anniversary of the GTI badge, which has been linked since 1976 to the Volkswagen Golf and internal combustion engines. Now, that legacy moves into a fully electric generation, making the transition of GTI spirit to EVs one of the show's most intriguing storylines.
The 2026 Paris Motor Show will host Volkswagen's display, where the brand will showcase its lineup and reveal new developments. The ID.3 GTI is expected to draw significant attention from performance EV enthusiasts, especially with over 300 horsepower and a yet-to-be-announced price tag. In the growing electric sports segment, it could set a new benchmark for the European market.
