In a historic step toward localizing electric vehicle manufacturing in Egypt, Dr. Hussein Issa, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, announced during an extensive visit to the historic Nasr Automotive Company factories in Helwan the launch of the first fully locally assembled electric car in Egypt and the Middle East, scheduled for the third quarter of 2026. The visit underscores the Egyptian government's commitment to supporting national industries and enhancing competitiveness in the automotive market.

National Public-Private Partnership Details

During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister met with Mr. Yahya Abdel Halim, CEO of SN Automotive, along with several company leaders, in the presence of Engineer Mohamed El-Sadawy, Chairman of the Metallurgical Industries Holding Company, and Dr. Nabil Hamad, CEO of Nasr Automotive Company. The Deputy Prime Minister listened to SN Automotive's detailed plan for launching the electric vehicle, which will be manufactured inside the Nasr Automotive factory in Helwan, leveraging the historic factory's expertise and production assets.

SN Automotive is the result of a strategic collaboration and national partnership between the leading Al-Safi Group and Nasr Automotive Company, embodying the ideal model for integrating private sector efforts with state-owned industrial assets. This mega-partnership aims to reshape the concept of automotive manufacturing in Egypt, maximizing the utilization of production assets and historical expertise, in line with political leadership directives to localize advanced technology and build a resilient and sustainable economy.

He explained that the vehicle will be the first of its kind in Egypt and the Middle East in terms of full local assembly, reflecting the Egyptian industry's ability to compete in the globally growing electric vehicle sector.

Abdel Halim expressed his happiness with the visit and appreciation for the government's continuous support, which places great importance on developing national industry and building a strong competitive base. He noted that expanding electric vehicle production reflects a forward-looking vision aligned with global transformations and strongly supports the "Made in Egypt" slogan. He confirmed that the coming period will witness pleasant and unprecedented surprises for Egyptian consumers, as the company puts the final touches on launching an advanced electric car that meets citizens' expectations in terms of quality, efficiency, and economical operation.

Significance for the Egyptian Automotive Market

This step comes at a time when the Egyptian market is witnessing increasing interest in electric and hybrid vehicles, with growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions. Abdel Halim emphasized that local manufacturing of electric cars will be one of the most prominent achievements of the Egyptian state and its national companies in the coming period, noting that SN Automotive has a comprehensive action plan to achieve widespread adoption of electric vehicles in Egypt, contributing to reduced reliance on fossil fuels and lower carbon emissions.

SN Automotive has taken on this promising national goal and possesses a complete action plan to achieve widespread distribution of electric vehicles in the Egyptian market, with a focus on providing after-sales services and an advanced charging network. This vehicle is expected to represent a qualitative leap in Egyptian automotive manufacturing, strengthening Egypt's position as a regional hub for electric vehicle production in the region.
