Aston Martin Upgrades Valhalla Battery to Challenge Mercedes-AMG ONE
Aston Martin has begun testing its updated Valhalla hypercar, with a prototype spotted on roads in southern Europe. The British manufacturer is evaluating a series of technical enhancements aimed at refining this flagship model.
Hybrid Battery Improvement
The main upgrade focuses on the plug-in hybrid battery system. According to international media reports, Valhalla owners have complained about rapid depletion of the 6.1 kWh battery. Currently, the hypercar can cover approximately 15 kilometers on electric power alone, based on the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Cycle (WLTP).
Expected Battery Capacity Increase
Aston Martin is expected to increase battery capacity to around 8 kWh, which would extend the electric-only range to roughly 20 kilometers. For comparison, the Mercedes-AMG ONE uses an 8.4 kWh battery and can travel up to 18 kilometers on a single charge.
1079 Horsepower Powertrain
The Valhalla's drivetrain combines a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 gasoline engine with three electric motors, delivering a total output of 1079 horsepower. In contrast, the Mercedes-AMG ONE features a V6 engine paired with four electric motors, producing 1063 horsepower.
Limited Production and Future Variant
Production of the Aston Martin Valhalla is limited to just 999 units. Reports indicate the company is also developing a more advanced version, the Valhalla AMR. While the model remains one of the most technically advanced sports cars for 2026, Aston Martin has not yet announced a specific release date for the updated version.
