Transport Ministry Expands Safety Campaign to Combat Dangerous Railway Crossing Behavior
The Ministry of Transport has continued its public awareness campaign under the slogan “Your Safety Matters,” aiming to promote the safe use of the national railway network. The campaign focuses on educating passengers and the public about responsible behavior while using railway facilities, emphasizing the importance of following official safety instructions to protect lives and preserve public property. It also highlights the risks associated with unsafe practices that can lead to serious accidents or disrupt railway operations.
Follow Railway Crossing Instructions
The ministry urged citizens to exercise extreme caution when crossing railway level crossings and to strictly comply with the instructions issued by the railway authority. It stressed that crossings should only be used after the barriers have fully opened and the train has safely passed, reinforcing that adherence to these procedures plays a critical role in improving public safety and reducing avoidable risks.
Warning Against High-Risk Behavior
According to the ministry, forcing a way through closed railway crossings or traveling in the wrong direction while crossing barriers remain among the most dangerous behaviors witnessed at railway crossings. Such actions can result in the loss of life and disrupt train operations, making compliance with crossing regulations essential for maintaining both passenger safety and the efficient movement of railway services.
The awareness campaign forms part of the ministry's ongoing efforts to strengthen public safety culture across the railway network. By encouraging citizens to follow official guidance and avoid hazardous behavior, the campaign seeks to reduce accidents, safeguard lives, protect public infrastructure, and ensure the continued safe and efficient operation of train services throughout the railway system.
