An increasing number of Egyptians looking to work with ride-hailing apps such as Uber, InDrive, Didi, and Bolt are turning to the used car market. These drivers seek vehicles that combine low purchase costs with meeting the operational requirements set by these platforms. With some companies easing age restrictions in recent years, thousands of older cars have become eligible. This report highlights five top used cars that meet these criteria and suit the Egyptian market.

Requirements for Ride-Hailing App Operation

Acceptance criteria vary by app: Uber Egypt requires cars to be from model year 2008 or newer in some categories, while InDrive accepts older models starting from 1995 provided the car is in good condition. Other apps like Didi and Bolt accept models ranging between 2004 and 2007 as a minimum for economy categories. All apps require the car to be a sedan or hatchback with at least four doors, be free from major accidents, and have an overall condition exceeding 70%. Required documents include a valid driving license, valid car registration, a technical inspection matching app standards, and a criminal record certificate directed to the app.
