Stopping for just a few minutes outside a commercial shop or a government office may seem like a harmless daily habit for many drivers, yet this behavior can quickly turn into a serious legal issue that may lead to imprisonment and fines. These warnings come as part of broader efforts to strengthen traffic discipline and reduce random stopping that causes congestion and disrupts traffic flow on major roads and streets. Authorities emphasize that compliance with traffic regulations is no longer optional but a necessity to protect lives, property, and ensure sustainable road efficiency.

Article 75 of Traffic Law

Article 75 of the traffic law outlines a set of penalties applied without prejudice to any harsher punishment stated in other laws. These penalties include imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months and a fine ranging from 300 to 1500 pounds, or either of these two penalties. They apply to anyone committing violations that affect public safety and traffic organization, such as exceeding speed limits for rapid transport vehicles, operating a vehicle with defective braking systems, deliberately entering false data in official forms, intentionally obstructing or disrupting traffic on public roads, failing to complete licensing requirements for driving schools, or assaulting traffic officers during the performance of their duties, among other violations.

Penalties for Repeat Offences

The law further states that penalties are not limited to the first offence. If the same violation is repeated within six months of a final conviction, the penalty is doubled. In the event of a third repetition, the punishment increases to imprisonment for up to one year, with a fine ranging from 1000 to 5000 pounds, or either of these penalties. This progressive penalty structure reflects the legislator’s intent to firmly address dangerous driving behaviors and reduce repeated violations that negatively impact road safety and public order.

The General Traffic Administration continues to implement intensive field operations across major roads and corridors, using a modern system of fixed and mobile radars alongside surveillance cameras that detect violations instantly as they occur. Legal measures are taken immediately against offenders, in addition to ongoing traffic campaigns aimed at controlling traffic flow and reducing random behaviors that lead to congestion and accidents. These efforts are part of a comprehensive strategy designed to enhance road safety and ensure smoother traffic movement.

Continuous Traffic Surveillance and Enforcement

The traffic system confirms that relying on modern monitoring technologies, combined with field presence, represents an important step toward reducing violations and improving traffic quality within cities and highways. These measures also aim to increase driver compliance and limit the phenomenon of random stopping outside shops and offices, which can cause significant traffic disruption. The ultimate goal remains the protection of lives and property while achieving a more disciplined and efficient traffic system.
