In a strategic move to solidify Egypt's position as a leading regional hub for automotive manufacturing and logistics, Dr. Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), held a high-level meeting with Dag Juhlin-Danfelt, the Swedish Ambassador to Cairo. The meeting, hosted at the SCZone headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, focused on exploring collaborative opportunities and potential investments in the automotive industry alongside other vital sectors.

During the discussion, Gamal El-Din emphasized the SCZone's strong commitment to localizing the automotive and commercial vehicle manufacturing industries. He highlighted the strategic advantage of leveraging the world-class expertise of leading Swedish automotive companies. The Chairman noted that the Zone provides a fully integrated industrial ecosystem, featuring advanced ports, cutting-edge logistics, robust infrastructure, and a highly trained technical workforce at competitive rates. This makes it an ideal platform for manufacturing and exporting vehicles to both regional and international markets.

Gamal El-Din further outlined the Zone's unique competitive advantages, including its strategic location on both sides of the Suez Canal, seamless integration into global markets through free trade agreements, and the direct linkage between industrial zones and ports to minimize transport time and costs. He revealed that this highly attractive investment climate has successfully drawn over $16 billion in investments over the past four years. Additionally, he pointed out the Zone's success in localizing renewable energy components to support the green fuel transition, which directly enhances the future sustainability and production of electric and hybrid vehicles.

In response, the Swedish Ambassador expressed his strong appreciation for the immense potential and advanced infrastructure offered by the SCZone. He noted that numerous Swedish companies are already operating successfully in Egypt across the automotive, home appliances, and logistics sectors. The Ambassador emphasized a growing interest among Swedish investors to expand their footprint in the economic zone, driven by its remarkable industrial and economic achievements that continue to attract global attention.
