Data from Egypt's compulsory vehicle insurance pool reveals that 16,250 Korean-branded cars were licensed in the Egyptian market between January and the end of July 2026. That figure underscores the enduring appeal of Korean automakers, with Hyundai dominating the scene by a wide margin.
Hyundai and Kia Top Korean Car Licenses in Egypt
The data shows Hyundai leading the Korean brands with approximately 9,486 licensed vehicles during the first seven months of the year. Kia secured the second spot with a total of 5,973 licensed cars.
KGM registered only 791 vehicles in the same period. The gap between the runner-up and third place is enormous, highlighting how the Egyptian market revolves around Korea's two largest manufacturers.
Market Share Breakdown Among Korean Brands
According to the pool's data, Hyundai captured approximately 58.4% of total Korean car licenses, while Kia held a 36.8% share. KGM accounted for just 4.9%. These numbers redraw the competitive landscape within Egypt's Korean car segment.
Korean vehicles maintain their popularity thanks to parts availability and a wide service center network across governorates. That factor alone partially explains sustained high demand despite fluctuating prices.
Looking ahead to Q3, the Egyptian market anticipates more new Korean models, particularly in the electric and hybrid segments. Korean companies view Egypt as a promising market, and recent figures certainly support that outlook.
