The Gap is Wide at the Top… But the Battle Below is Fierce

A total of 4,770 imported cars were sold in the Egyptian market in June, a figure that signals renewed momentum despite persistent currency challenges. Toyota secured the runner-up spot with an 11.3% share (770 cars), a performance that cements its enduring reputation for reliability among local customers.

The race for the next positions was tight. Hyundai grabbed third place with 7.6% (517 units), edging out Peugeot which came fourth with 6.6% (447 vehicles). Kia settled for fifth with a 6.1% share, representing 419 sold cars.

Opel and Citroen Battle in the Mid-Field

German engineering from Opel accounted for 5.6% of the market in June, securing 384 sales and sixth place, outpacing French rival Citroen which finished seventh with a 5.3% share (358 units). The contest between them for family sedan customers remains one of the closest in the market.

Chinese brands are making a significant push. Geely landed eighth with 4% (276 cars), while Chery took ninth with 3.7% (254 units). The surprise came from Changan, rounding out the top ten with a matching 3.7% share and 253 sales, highlighting the growing influence of Chinese automakers in Egypt's import segment.

The final spots on the list saw a blend of Japanese and French presence. Mitsubishi finished eleventh with 3.6% (242 cars), followed by Renault in twelfth with 3% (202 vehicles). These figures serve as a preliminary indicator of shifting consumer preferences, with a clear trend towards models offering the best value for money in a volatile economic climate.
