The report issued by the Egyptian Compulsory Motor Insurance Pool (ECMIP) has revealed the most active traffic registration offices for licensing new cars (zero-kilometer) during June. The report also detailed the key customs ports that recorded the highest vehicle entry rates into Egypt during the same period, along with comprehensive statistics on vehicle registrations across various fuel types.

Ranking of the Busiest Traffic Offices in June

The New Cairo traffic office topped the list of the most active licensing offices for new cars in Egypt during June, registering 2,201 vehicles. It was followed by the Nasr City office with 1,664 vehicles, and then the Abis office, which recorded 1,554 vehicles. The Faisal office ranked fourth with 1,480 vehicles, while the Hawamdeya office came in fifth with 1,422 vehicles. These figures reflect the distribution of traffic activity across different geographical areas in Egypt, highlighting regions with high population density and increasing demand for new vehicles.

Key Customs Ports for Vehicle Entry

The report indicated that the total number of cars entering Egypt through customs ports during June reached 23,716 vehicles. The Salloum port led the list with approximately 16,972 vehicles, underscoring its pivotal role in car imports via the western borders. It was followed by the Safaga port with 2,348 vehicles, and then the Nuweiba port with 2,061 vehicles. This data highlights the importance of both sea and land ports in the flow of vehicles into the Egyptian market and their impact on the availability of various brands.

New vs. Used Car Licensing Statistics

The report revealed that a total of 383,655 used cars were licensed in Egypt during June, alongside 70,497 new (zero-kilometer) cars. This significant gap between the number of used and newly licensed vehicles reflects the Egyptian market's strong inclination toward used cars, which are often more affordable and suit broader consumer segments. On the other hand, demand for new cars continues, albeit at lower rates, indicating sustained activity in both market segments.

Vehicle Licensing Distribution by Fuel Type

The report detailed the distribution of vehicle registrations (new and used) according to fuel type. Gasoline-powered vehicles claimed the largest share with 336,467 units, followed by diesel vehicles at 108,576 units. Dual-fuel vehicles (gasoline and natural gas) recorded 11,436 units, reflecting growing interest in bi-fuel systems. Electric vehicles, despite their noticeable growth, numbered only 2,233 units. In contrast, dedicated natural gas vehicles came in last with just 69 units. These figures underscore the continued dominance of traditional internal combustion engines, alongside early signs of a gradual shift toward electric and hybrid vehicles.
