Article Summary

Egypt's automotive market saw successive price increases in October 2026 affecting 15 new cars, some within less than 10 days. The Hyundai Elantra AD led with a total hike of 30,000 EGP, the Venu rose 45,000 EGP for the second trim, and the Haval H6 added 40,000 EGP. The increases covered locally assembled and imported models, petrol, electric, and hybrid, driven by dollar exchange rate and import and shipping costs.

Fifteen new cars in the Egyptian market have received their second price increase this October, some within less than 10 days. The Hyundai Elantra AD led the pack with a total hike of 30,000 EGP, after the company raised its price by 15,000 EGP on October 15 and another 15,000 EGP on October 22. The increases hit locally assembled and imported models alike, covering petrol, electric, and hybrid vehicles.

Dollar Pressure and Import Costs Fuel the Surge

The dollar exchange rate, import costs, and shipping expenses are driving this new wave. Companies did not absorb the pressure alone. The second increase came on top of the first round announced in the first half of the month, meaning buyers are now paying a real difference between two prices within two weeks. Egypt's automotive market has been in a state of pricing instability since the start of the final quarter.

Hyundai Elantra AD: 30,000 EGP in One Week

The locally assembled Elantra AD now starts at 1,050,000 EGP for the first trim, 1,150,000 EGP for the second, 1,165,000 EGP for the third, and 1,265,000 EGP for the fourth and most equipped trim. The car runs a 1600cc four-cylinder engine producing 127.5 hp and 155 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. Those specs did not change. The price changed twice.

Venu and Haval H6: Back-to-Back Increases

The Hyundai Venu, assembled locally at GB Corp factories, saw two rounds of increases totaling 45,000 EGP for the second trim. The first Blaze trim hit around 889,000 EGP versus 869,000 EGP after the first hike, while the second Redline trim reached 965,000 EGP versus 945,000 EGP. The Haval H6 2026 model rose twice as well, first by 10,000 EGP and then by 30,000 EGP. The numbers speak for themselves.

Electric and hybrid vehicles did not escape the wave. The increases covered petrol-powered models alongside electric and hybrid ones. The second-round value varied from one car to another. That diversity confirms the pressure isn't tied to engine type or country of origin, but to the full cost structure from import to shipping to exchange rate.

What Does This Mean for Buyers?

Anyone waiting for prices to drop may be waiting a long time. Repeated price movements within less than 10 days mean purchase decisions need fast review. The price quoted today may not hold next week. Fifteen new cars moved twice in a single month — a clear signal the market has not settled yet.

The increases covered the Hyundai Elantra AD, Venu, Haval H6. Others, and the wave could extend to more models before October ends if pressure persists. Anyone following the Egyptian market knows every increase opens the door for the next one. The question now: does the wave stop, or does it widen?
