Toyota Egypt Recalls Corolla, Yaris and Avensis for Free Airbag Inspection
Toyota Egypt is continuing a recall campaign covering Corolla 2002-2013, Yaris sedan 2005-2010, Avensis 2003-2008 and Yaris hatchback 2013-2015 to inspect and replace Takata-made airbag inflators. The defect can spray metal fragments during a crash. Replacement is completely free and includes a complimentary engine oil and filter change. Owners can verify coverage by entering their VIN on the official website.
Toyota Egypt, the exclusive distributor of the Japanese brand in the country, is continuing a recall campaign covering Corolla models from 2002 to 2013 and Yaris sedans from 2005 to 2010. The action targets airbag inflators manufactured by Japan's Takata. The numbers tell the story.
Why Toyota launched this campaign
The recall first began in mid-2015 after defects in Takata airbags triggered one of the largest automotive recalls in global history and ended with the Japanese supplier's bankruptcy. The fault is serious. Defective inflators can rupture during a violent crash and spray metal fragments into the cabin, causing severe injuries to drivers and passengers. That is why the company is still chasing down older vehicles that remain on the road today.
Which models are affected
Four main models fall under the campaign. Corolla 2002-2013, Yaris sedan 2005-2010, Avensis 2003-2008, and Yaris hatchback 2013-2015. Owners who suspect their car is included can check online in minutes.
How to check if your car is affected
Toyota Egypt offers an electronic service on its official website to verify coverage using the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Enter the number to find out immediately whether your car needs inspection or airbag replacement. The company urged owners to contact their nearest authorized service center and book an appointment as soon as possible.
Free replacement and oil change
The replacement is completely free. In a post on its official Facebook page, the company confirmed that owners of affected vehicles bear no costs at all, and also receive a free engine oil and oil filter change when the work is carried out at an authorized service center. Hard to turn down.
Many of these Corolla and Yaris models are still widely used on Egyptian roads, and responding to recalls is a preventive measure that protects drivers and passengers. Ignoring the notice puts lives at risk. Contact the distributor today.
