Nissan Magnite Enters Local Production in Egypt with 10,000 Units Annual Target
Nissan Egypt, the exclusive distributor of the Japanese brand in the local market, has officially launched local production of the Nissan Magnite subcompact crossover SUV at its factory in 6th of October City, with an ambitious annual production target of 10,000 units.
The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Nissan Egypt plant, attended by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, several economic ministers, and senior executives from Nissan in Egypt and globally, marking the first time the Magnite model is being produced in Egypt and across Africa.
Substantial Investment in Local Manufacturing
The Japanese automaker has invested approximately $45 million (around EGP 2.34 billion) to upgrade its passenger car assembly lines in preparation for the local production of this model, according to the State Information Service.
These investments come under a memorandum of understanding signed between Nissan and the Egyptian government on December 4, 2024, aimed at advancing the localization of the automotive industry in the Egyptian market.
Local Content Exceeds 55%
The locally manufactured Nissan Magnite boasts a local content ratio exceeding 55%, reflecting the development of Egypt's industrial ecosystem and the strengthening of supply chains within the automotive sector, as reported by the State Information Service.
The inclusion of the Nissan Magnite in the local manufacturing portfolio represents a significant step in Egypt's strategy to localize the automotive industry, expand the manufacturing base, and increase reliance on domestic production within the Egyptian market.
