The Metallurgical Industries Holding Company has unveiled new plans for Nasr Automotive Company, set to launch the first Egyptian passenger car bearing its brand name by the end of 2026. This move marks a strong comeback for the historic company into the passenger car production market after a long absence.

Details of Partnership Agreements with the Chinese Partner

Engineer Mohamed El-Saadawi, Chairman of the Holding Company for Metallurgical Industries, which oversees Nasr Automotive, stated that the company has signed two additional agreements with its Chinese partner alongside a previous deal. These agreements aim to strengthen joint cooperation and localize the automotive industry in Egypt, with a focus on gradually increasing the local content ratio to 70%, rather than all at once, providing local feeder industries with an opportunity to develop and grow.

A Multi-Track Manufacturing Strategy

Nasr Automotive is adopting a new strategy that includes manufacturing cars under its own brand, as well as producing vehicles for other companies. The production lines will cover both traditional fuel-powered cars and various electric vehicles, reflecting the global shift toward clean energy. This strategy aims to maximize the use of the factory's production capacities and meet the needs of diverse segments of the local market.

Reviving a Historic Brand

With this ambitious project, Nasr Automotive is poised to regain its leading position in the Egyptian market by producing passenger cars suitable for citizens with a gradually increasing local component. This step is expected to significantly boost the feeder industries sector in Egypt and restore the company's name to the forefront after a period where it only assembled vehicles under other brands. The ultimate goal is the return of passenger car production bearing the Nasr Automotive logo, as was the case in the past.

Previous Agreement with FAW Car

It is worth noting that Nasr Automotive had previously signed a strategic partnership agreement with the Chinese FAW Car Group to manufacture the Chinese company's vehicles, but under the Nasr Automotive brand. This agreement serves as a strong foundation for the company's powerful return to the Egyptian automotive manufacturing scene and underscores the seriousness of the drive toward localization with increased local components.
