Long March Chinese Tire Factory Begins Construction in Egypt with $190 Million Investment
Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone, announced the start of construction for a major tire manufacturing project in Egypt. The new project is owned by Long March Tires Egypt Limited, a subsidiary of the Chinese parent company, and will be established within the TEDA Egypt zone in the Ain Sokhna industrial area, marking a significant addition to the local tire industry.
Factory Specifications and Production Capacity
The new factory will be built on an area of 200,000 square meters, with total investments amounting to $190 million. The project is expected to create 1,500 direct job opportunities and will be implemented in two phases. The first phase targets an annual production of 600,000 tires, while the second phase will increase production capacity to 1 million tires per year. The plant specializes in manufacturing tires for trucks and buses, strengthening the local market's ability to meet the demands of the heavy transport sector.
Mass Production of Passenger Car Tires
In addition to commercial vehicle tires, the project will also produce 4.5 million passenger car tires annually. The company aims to supply the local Egyptian market while also exporting to international markets, thereby boosting Egypt's tire exports and reducing reliance on imports.
First Project in TEDA Egypt's New Phase
The Long March factory is the first project to be established in the new phase agreed upon with TEDA Egypt in July 2025, covering a total area of 2.8 million square meters. Jin Yong, Chairman of the Board of Long March China, confirmed the company's commitment to implementing the project according to the highest global standards, contributing to the development of Egypt's tire industry, and creating new employment opportunities, reflecting the strong economic ties between Egypt and China.
