Kia Seltos Could Be Manufactured in Egypt by 2027
Kia Seltos may begin local manufacturing in Egypt by 2027 following talks between the government and Kia's agent. The car is currently offered in three trims starting at 1.35 million EGP and reaching 1.625 million EGP. It comes with two engine options: a 1.5-litre 115 hp unit and a 1.4-litre turbo 140 hp unit. Local manufacturing could lower prices and provide cheaper spare parts.
Kia Seltos may enter local assembly in Egypt by 2027. Talks between the Egyptian government and global automakers have produced new incentives for local manufacturing, drawing major brands to study production in Egypt. Among the names strongly tipped is Kia and its local agent EIT. Expectations point to the Seltos as the first candidate for local production.
Why the Kia Seltos?
The Korean compact crossover has posted strong numbers in the Egyptian market since launch. Kia Seltos is offered in three trims: EX at 1.35 million EGP, Highline at 1.5 million EGP. Topline at 1.625 million EGP. These prices reflect its position in the compact crossover segment, currently the most in-demand category in Egypt. Local manufacturing could completely change the pricing equation.
Technical specifications and capabilities
A 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine delivers 115 hp and 145 Nm of torque, paired with an automatic transmission. The more potent version packs a 1.4-litre turbo with 140 hp and 247 Nm, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Dimensions: length 4,385 mm, width 1,800 mm, height 1,635 mm, wheelbase 2,630 mm, weight 1,465 kg. Ground clearance 185 mm. Numbers that confirm Seltos is built for daily use in Egypt's congested cities.
Will the Kia Egypt experiment repeat?
Manufacturing Seltos locally could open the door to more models from the Korean brand. Local assembly isn't new to Egypt, but the new incentives change the game. Kia has an extensive service network in Egypt, which would ease any future production process. Yet the projections remain unconfirmed until an official announcement is made.
What does local manufacturing mean for Egyptian buyers?
The bottom line is simple. Building Kia Seltos in Egypt could lower its price noticeably by eliminating customs and import costs. Provide cheaper, faster spare parts. But this requires huge investment in production lines and workforce training. Egypt's previous experience with local Kia manufacturing was not large-scale, but current conditions are completely different with new government incentives. The question remains: will we see a "Made in Egypt" Seltos by 2027?
