Khaled Saad Clarifies the Fate of 8 Car Brands in Egypt: Only Two Exited Production
Rumors circulating on social media in Egypt have sparked widespread confusion regarding the alleged discontinuation of eight car brands. Engineer Khaled Saad, Secretary General of the Egyptian Automotive Manufacturers Association and agent for a Chinese automotive brand, stepped forward to set the record straight. In an interview with the radio program 'Arabiyati' on Egypt Radio, Saad confirmed that only two of the eight brands have effectively exited the production map, while the remaining six continue their operations actively through various corporate and commercial structures.
Mergers and Partnerships Drive Brand Continuity
Khaled Saad explained that the survival of these six brands is largely due to strategic moves by their parent companies, including mergers with major industrial players, new partnerships, or rebranding initiatives. He emphasized that the widespread belief that all eight brands have disappeared is completely inaccurate. Most of these brands are still manufacturing vehicles, albeit under new names or updated trademarks owned by their original Chinese parent companies. This restructuring, Saad noted, is a normal part of the global automotive industry's evolution and does not indicate market withdrawal.
The Reality of Egypt's Automotive Market Amid Speculation
Saad's remarks come at a time when the Egyptian car market is highly sensitive to rumors and seeks reliable information about brand stability. He reassured consumers that brands still active in the local market remain under the supervision of their parent companies, and that restructuring is a healthy sign of adaptation and growth. The Secretary General stressed that changes in brand names or corporate identities do not necessarily affect after-sales service, spare parts availability, or warranty coverage, especially when the parent company remains financially robust and committed to the market.
Consumer Guidance in a Changing Market Landscape
Engineer Khaled Saad advised Egyptian car buyers to rely on official sources from manufacturers and regulatory bodies rather than unverified social media posts. He highlighted that a brand's name change or corporate restructuring should not be mistaken for its exit from the market. As long as the parent company continues its operations, technical support and spare parts supply remain guaranteed. Saad concluded by affirming that Egypt's automotive industry is undergoing positive transformations, and the local market is well-equipped to adapt to global shifts while protecting consumer interests.
