Jiangsu Changhong Plans $20 Million Industrial Complex to Support Egypt's Automotive Industry
Egypt's efforts to strengthen its automotive industry continue through new industrial investments aimed at expanding local manufacturing capabilities and supporting the supply chain. As part of this strategy, Egypt's Minister of Industry, Khaled Hashem, met with a delegation from Jiangsu Changhong, the Chinese manufacturer specializing in intelligent equipment. During the meeting, the company presented its plan to establish a new industrial complex in Egypt with investments of $20 million to provide integrated solutions for the country's automotive manufacturing sector.
Industrial Solutions for Vehicle Production Lines
The proposed industrial complex will focus on equipping automotive production lines in Egypt while supplying intelligent industrial software systems designed to improve manufacturing efficiency. In addition, the project will offer consulting services covering factory planning and design, providing comprehensive industrial solutions that support vehicle production and related manufacturing activities. The initiative is intended to strengthen the industrial ecosystem serving the automotive sector and enhance production capabilities through advanced technologies.
Egypt's Automotive Manufacturing Strategy
During the discussions, the Minister of Industry emphasized that the automotive industry and its supporting industries represent one of the key pillars of Egypt's industrial development. He stated that the country has adopted a comprehensive automotive strategy focused on moving beyond vehicle assembly toward full-scale manufacturing while increasing the percentage of locally produced components in vehicles manufactured in Egypt. This approach is designed to enhance industrial competitiveness and create greater added value for domestic production.
The minister also explained that Egypt aims to become a regional hub for automotive manufacturing and vehicle exports by attracting global companies and encouraging new industrial investments. Government initiatives are focused on establishing automotive manufacturing projects, transferring advanced technologies, building local industrial capabilities, and qualifying Egyptian professionals in industrial engineering, smart manufacturing, and digital transformation. These efforts are intended to support the long-term development of the country's automotive sector.
