Hongqi Picks New Egyptian Distributor, Plans 3 Showrooms
Chinese luxury brand Hongqi, owned by FAW Group, has appointed Hongqi Egypt as its official distributor in Egypt. The agreement was signed in China with Sky Holding Group officials present. The company plans three main showrooms in New Cairo, Sheikh Zayed, and Alexandria, plus dealers in six governorates. After-sales service will include Hongqi vehicles already owned by Egyptian customers.
Chinese luxury brand Hongqi, owned by FAW Group, has named Hongqi Egypt as its official distributor in the Egyptian market. The agreement was signed in China this September in the presence of Mohamed Belal, CEO of Sky Holding Group. Mohamed Rizk, CEO of Hongqi Egypt. The move marks a new chapter for the luxury marque in Egypt.
Hongqi returns to Egypt with a dedicated distributor
Founded in 1958, Hongqi — whose name means Red Flag in Chinese — is one of the oldest passenger car brands in China. For decades it was associated with official state limousines and VIP convoys. Today it offers a diverse lineup of sedans, SUVs. Fully electric vehicles, and operates in more than 30 countries and regions. Its arrival in Egypt through a dedicated entity signals ambitions beyond a simple market entry.
Three showrooms and dealers across six governorates
Hongqi Egypt is building a sales and service network that includes three main showrooms in New Cairo, Sheikh Zayed, and Alexandria. Expansion will extend through authorized dealers in Cairo, Giza, Ismailia, Tanta, Hurghada, and Alexandria. The company draws on Sky Holding's experience in the automotive sector since 1986, alongside its financing, leasing, and insurance operations.
After-sales services will cover Hongqi vehicles already on Egyptian roads and owned by customers. This detail matters — it means previous agents have not vanished from the picture. Existing owners will receive official support. Egypt's luxury car market is witnessing growing competition between European and Chinese brands.
What does Hongqi's entry mean for Egypt's luxury car market?
Competition in the luxury segment is fierce. Hongqi enters with a rich heritage and a lineup that includes fully electric models. But the biggest challenge remains building trust and after-sales service. The three showrooms are a starting point, yet expanding into governorates through authorized dealers will be the real test.
Sky Holding Group is no newcomer to the sector. Its experience stretches back to 1986, with arms in financing, leasing, and insurance. This mix could give Hongqi Egypt the ability to offer competitive financing packages. But the question remains: will Egyptian buyers choose a Chinese luxury car over a European one? The answer depends on product quality and maintenance costs.
