El Nasr and China’s FAW Group Sign Strategic Partnership to Produce New Vehicles in Egypt
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly attended the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between El Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company and China’s FAW Group at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The partnership aims to manufacture a range of new vehicles under the “Nasr” brand as part of Egypt’s efforts to localize automotive production and expand domestic manufacturing capabilities.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Hussein Eissa, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs. The agreement was signed by Eng. Mohamed El Saadawy, Chairman and Managing Director of the Metallurgical Industries Holding Company, and Dr. Nabil Mohamed Hammad, Managing Director of El Nasr Automotive, alongside officials from FAW Group.
Supporting Local Automotive Manufacturing
Mohamed El Saadawy stated that the agreement is the result of extensive discussions and coordination between both parties over the past period, reflecting a shared commitment to establishing long-term cooperation that supports technology transfer and strengthens local manufacturing capabilities.
He added that the partnership is designed to increase local content levels in the vehicles produced, supporting the country’s strategy to deepen domestic industrialization, reduce reliance on imports, and enhance the competitiveness of locally manufactured vehicles across different markets.
New Vehicles Under the Nasr Brand
For his part, Dr. Nabil Mohamed Hammad described the agreement as an important milestone in El Nasr Automotive’s development plans, noting that cooperation with FAW Group will contribute to the introduction of new vehicles carrying the “Nasr” badge in line with the latest global specifications and standards.
He added that the project aims to deliver high-quality products that meet the needs of Egyptian consumers while also creating opportunities for locally manufactured vehicles to reach new regional and international markets.
Boosting Local Content and Technology Transfer
The partnership also seeks to leverage the Chinese group's industrial and technological expertise to facilitate technical knowledge transfer, develop human resources, strengthen local supply chains, and increase the share of local components used in vehicle production.
